Hello Tarot Lovers!

My name is Shannon and I will be joining as an admin. I’m 21-years-old and I’m studying at a University in Omaha, Nebraska. I’m an English major with a specialization in creative writing, and my passion (besides tarot) is poetry. You can find my personal tumblr at whiskeyrobot.tumblr.com.

I’m fairly new to tarot. I started last spring after I bought my first deck, the Rider-Waite standard deck, from a voo doo shop in the French Quarter in New Orleans. I’ve always loved the art on tarot decks and that is what initially drew me to learn more. My chemistry professor last semester did a reading for me and I’ve been hooked ever since! I am currently studying two books about tarot, Barbara Moore’s Excellent Tarot for Beginners and Mary K. Greer’s The Complete Book of Tarot Reversals. I learn pretty fast so I expect to have a working knowledge of the cards and their traditional meanings by spring, but don’t worry, I’ll be learning along the way with you (if you happen to be a beginner). I only have a few decks so far. As I learn I am hoping to add to my collection. My decks are:

  • Rider Waite
  • Feng Shui Tarot by Peter Paul Connolly & Eileen Connolly
  • Tarot Art Nouvea by Antonella Castelli
  • An Italian deck that is currently at home (can’t remember the name of it)

My hope for my contribution to tarotismyreligion is to start a weekly post dedicated to a single card and its meanings. A kind of “Tarot for Dummies,” if you will. It will be a mixture of my own personal beliefs about the symbols, information from books and other sources, and hopefully, your own opinions added on in reblogs and replies! My favorite part of tarot is that it allows you to have deep conversations with and increase knowledge through others.  I do readings that are contemplative and problem-solving in nature; tarot has never been a tool through which I seek to know the future. I believe it is a great tool to help us understand the now.

Feel free to ask me questions. I don’t pretend to know everything and I hope that you can be patient with me, but also enjoy the process of learning along with me.

I’m a recent college graduate with a passion for global education and literacy. I blog on a much more intimate level at sailorbaby.tumblr.com. If you check it out you’ll find lots of posts about feminism and how I’m typically hungry at all hours of the day.  I’ve been reading the tarot for about four years, on a personal level for myself and friends. I’m looking forward to being a part of this site and pushing myself to learn new things about the cards and interpretations. I am drawn to the tarot for its archetypal qualities and its use of symbolism as the primary tool for communication. I’m a believer in synchronicity and the collective consciousness, and I think tarot illustrates both of these aspects of the universe beautifully. The High Priestess represents me in many a way, and its also my birth card.  I use the following decks: The Hanson-Robert Tarot, The Fairy Tale Tarot, Morgan Greer Tarot, Ansata Tarot, The Tarot of the Cat People, The Grand Etteilla Tarot, and the Russian Tarot of St. Petersburg. I work with Morgan Greer and the Cat People most frequently, but I’m most proud of snagging my Grand Etteilla and Ansata Tarots, both of which are pretty rare.  I look forward to sharing my thoughts and finds on tarot, and also some work I’ve been doing in my tarot/art journal. Hey guys!

I’m one of the new admins here at this wonderful blog! I usually just go by my initials, but “Joso” works as well. I’m 16 years old and I live in Southern California. In my free time (aside from practicing Tarot) I doodle and design as well. You can peruse and pursue my tumblr at kitsches.tumblr.com.

I’m new to tarot, but not to cartomancy. At about 12 years old my mother taught me how to read using normal playing cards and since then I’ve mostly read for family and friends. I didn’t discover Tarot until early this year, where I saw a fair reader practicing the art in person up in LA. Since then, I’ve drowned myself in learning as much as I could about Tarot. I received my very first deck from my sister on my 16th birthday a couple months ago and have been reading (and attempting my own at spread creation) rather enthusiastically. I primarily try to read using intuition, but I still acknowledge and sometimes reference the “classical” card meanings, reversed and upright. My favorite card is Strength, or Lust in the Thoth (it also aligns with my astrological sign. yay leos).

As a long-term ongoing project of mine, I’m taking on the task of designing my own super-personal deck. I posted early pictures and drafts somewhere buried in the aeclectic forum… haha.

I’m 22, living in my hometown Baltimore, MD. I’ve been working with tarot since my mom gave me my first deck when I was 12, and I’ve been seriously studying tarot for the last five years. I use The Marseille deck, Thoth, and a deck I’ve been making myself (pictures can be found here). I read tarot because I love it, tarot has helped me learn so much about myself and I feel so lucky to be able to help others.

It&#8217;s taken me on spiritual adventures and taught me more about myself than I thought was possible. Another passion of mine is teaching people how to use tarot to help themselves. There&#8217;s nothing quite like coaching people along and then watching them perform their first reading, and get real answers out of them.
